head coach

Blase is a 38 year old Level 3 Professional Tennis Coach with 15 years experience of coaching all ages and abilities.  Blase is local to Essex and started playing tennis at the young age of 9 at Leigh Tennis Club coached by his dad - Blase Walton Snr.

At age 13 he moved to Westcliff Lawn Tennis Club and was good enough to represent the club in the men's team in a very competitive Essex division 1 league and remains its youngest ever player.  There, he also started his coaching career, inspiring younger children by assisting senior coaches with the weekend group training sessions.  After qualifying as a coach he worked at Westcliff Lawn for 10 years and helped develop their tennis program.

Additionally, as a coach he has worked at well established tennis clubs and academies such as Garrons Tennis Academy and David Lloyds Southend, where he built successful tennis programs that has produced several high performance and elite players.

Fatherhood, his love for teaching and inspiring children led to a change of career as a PE Teacher and Middle Management Behaviour lead at PLT Sutton House. But his passion for tennis and his love for his local community never waned.

With the COVID 19 pandemic, he thought of a way to help and give back to his community.  He assembled a team of excellent coaches, and partnered with Invicta Tennis Club to provide a place where members of the club and local community could meet in a safe, friendly, family oriented and healthy environment - and Blase Walton Tennis was born.

He is a father to 3 beautiful children. You will often find him in the park running around with them. He also loves swimming, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and cycling.

We are a team of dedicated coaches who are passionate about tennis in the community. We give our very best to our players and expect their best in return.

Gary has been playing tennis for over 40 years and has played in the local Leigh and Westcliff leagues.

10 years ago, he took an interest in coaching too. He has coached children as young as 4 and the oldest adult he has coached is in their 90s!

He is very popular with those he coaches, many of whom now play in the local leagues. His view is that very few of us will ever be as good as Andy Murray or Serena Williams but there is no reason why people cannot improve their skills, but most importantly you must play with a smile on your face and enjoy playing tennis.
